WeltTrends

Journal of International Politics

Profile

WeltTrends is a journal of international politics and comparative studies, founded in 1993 by German and Polish academics of the University of Potsdam and the Instytut Zachodni. Politically and financially independent, WeltTrends discusses the challenges that German foreign policy faces at the dawn of the 21st century. Being a German-Polish project, topics comprise the latest developments in our neighbouring states in the East within the context of an enlarging Europe. Furthermore, the journal concentrates on global phenomena such as the internet, disarmament and political developments in different regions of the world. Issues are published in German and address decision-makers in politics and administration, the media as well as lecturers and students of international politics and regional studies. WeltTrends is listed in libraries all over the world. The circulation amounts to 1.500 copies.

Issues

Since 2008, the journal appears bimonthly. Each issue is comprised of 144 pages and focuses on a main subject. Recent topics include the developments in Iran, the identity crisis of NATO, selective borders in Europe as well as South Africa and the Football World Cup ahead. In short articles, the WorldView section covers current developments on subjects such as disarmament, the elections in New Zealand and Thailand or the issue of violence in Central America. Well-grounded debates are pursued in the Analysis fraction, whether on the financial crisis or on the future of general conscription. The Forum on Afghanistan and on German foreign policy provides a platform for controversial discussions. In addition, the journal contains portraits, commentaries as well as book reviews and conference reports.
